Long Island for the weekend

We were expecting rain and got presently surprised with a warm sunny day!!

After hanging at th Junkin's house we took a short drive over to Northport (home of the Shipwreck Diner) and got ice cream and let Miss Monet play in the playground. Doob had as much fun as she did I think!
Brendan and Danielle just bought a new house and were busy getting it ready to move into. We visited with them some and are so happy for them as they embark on being homeowners!
On the way back over the Long Island sound we got to meet "Quack R. Jack", the mascot for the Long Island Duck's baseball team. Monet thought he was pretty hot stuff.
The ride over from Bridgeport on Friday was rainy and cold so our Sunday trip on the boat we were up on the top deck the whole time and ate lunch as you can see Monet has found in this photo.

Mother's Day and Alpacas

We spent the afternoon at the Sheep and Wool Festival to celebrate Mother's Day. We ate some greasy food and bought some local goods. Monet loved seeing the sheep and alpacas!
And she LOVED eating some ice cream with me. We were supposed to share it, but in the end I think she may have gotten more then me!

Monet Party Take 2

I know we are a week past Monet's Birthday party, but I just now got these photos and wanted to post for those in desperate need of more Nowlan Family fun.

Godmother/Auntie Kay-Kay got Monet this three wheeler and she has been on it every day since. She needs a couple more inches on her legs to reach the peddles, but she manages anyway!

Here Louisa is checking out her cousin probably wondering how she can get on top of that toy box too!

Daddy Doob and I made this cake through very tired eyes the night before the party. It was well liked by kids and adults alike. Both for looks and taste I might add!

Monet and her friend Catherine always have a wonderful time together and this party was no exception!

Here Monet is opening her gifts and enjoying every minute! She is a very loved little girl and her family and friends were very good to her!!!!!

Happy Birthday Monet!

Monet has entered the world of a two year old. Her Aunt Katie and cousin Louisa came to visit for a few days and helped us prepare for her Birthday party. On Friday we celebrated with a small ice cream cake and sang "Happy Birthday" three times, while ichatting with Nanna, Pop-Pop and Uncle Scott. Monet would take the candles out of the cake, lick them off and then put them back in so we could do it all over again.

Louisa, being just 14 months, hasn't indulged in ice cream too much. But her mommy let her have her own small bowl of Carvel cake and Louisa LOVED it!

Daddy Doob gave Monet some books...and he searched for some of her favorites at the bookstore and was successful. Monet's Curious George paperback collection has grown, much to her delight.

Monet is 2 on the 2nd!

These shots were taken on Monet's Birthday last year. And yes she has changed a lot in a year!

This was her reaction to some muffins I made her in celebration of her first year. She approved!!
A group shot from her party.
And the family shot in front of the mountain. One of the biggest physical changes I see in her is the length of her hair! It grew a lot from last May to this May!

Pruning and Golfing

Our neighbor to the north of us, the one with the canoe rental business, came over with his tractor and chainsaw today and pruned our apple trees. He offered and we accepted. He thinks we should get much more fruit and I am going to try to eat them for this year rather then just feeding them to the deer and horses! Monet was into the entertainment and thought his tractor was VERY interesting.

Monet hasn't yet realized that she can put her winter hats away and simply wear her summer sun hats. She is constantly changing her hats and this one had me laughing out loud. She was determined to golf with it on.

Bald Eagle Sighting

While we were grilling some chicken for supper we noticed a beautiful bald eagle sitting in a tree directly in front of our house, down by the river. We gathered our binoculars and camera and sat there for atleast 15 minutes watching him and he watching us. Every time Monet yelled "Hi Bald Eagle" he would turn his head and look directly at us. :) I walked halfway through the field before he flew off and his wing span is just enormous.

Sunny and 70!!!

Yesterday we really spent more time outdoors then in. It was just perfect! Here are a few shots from our day.
