Goodbye August

Per Doctor's orders Monet and I have been "taking it easy". So that means lots of time just sitting outside under our apple trees...picking and tasting a few of course....playing with Sweet Pea, playing in the sandbox and other activities that let mom and baby #2 sit. The apple trees are so plentiful with fruit it is a little overwhelming. We made applesauce yesterday and plan on making a pie today. Our neighbor Farmer John is also going to help us collect sacks of apples to make cider with! His pruning has made the fruit more bountiful then last year.

Weekend Shots

Doobie and Henry worked all afternoon on Sunday to get the wallpaper up in the new nursery. It looks really nice and exactly what I had envisioned. Kinda like clouds, but not really clouds, but a nice sky blue. I think "baby brother" will like it and sleep well in this lovely room. Thanks HENRY!!! We owe you dinner!!!

We took an early evening dip in the pool, which was needed by all.

Cornish Fair

Monet and I took a trip to the Cornish Fair today, rather then cleaning the house for the family that is visiting tomorrow. It is a small agriculture fair with some rides and games and of course junky fair food. Perfect for a pregnant lady and her two year old!

Here we were watching the horse pulling....not all that entertaining for her, but I love it.

These sheep were very friendly and not too camera shy.

We ran into our friends Jen, Nate and Ethan and I stayed with Ethan (3 months old) while Jen took Nate and Monet on the Merry-go-round. I got a "Hello Mommy" each time the ride went around. :)

We got quadruple of what we asked for at the 4H Dairy Bar!! One scoop of Strawberry and one scoop of Vanilla turned into four of each...maybe the belly had something to do with it?!?! We couldn't eat it all unfortunately.

These two boys were taken care of these two baby goats and very much wanted to show Monet. Sarah and Heifer were their names.

Blueberry Addiction

Monet has a blueberry addiction and I am thinking about putting the fridge lock back on the door! I was in the other room today and came back into the kitchen and she had taken both quarts out of was having a little feast. She is getting her healthy antioxidant daily intake by leaps and bounds! But she also needs to get some other food groups in her tummy. We made homemade pizza tonight so hopefully that will take care of a few....pizza is one of her favs.

Stripped Clean

Well Doob insisted on taking my pictures for the blog...so here they are. We worked through the day yesterday, going through two more bottles of vinegar and suffered a few minor scrapes and nicks on the knuckles, but we got it all off. I added a photo of the red paper that was the last layer to see its demise so all could see the design taste of the original owners. Maybe they had relatives in the Civil war or something and liked canons, rifles, sailing ships and covered wagons decorating their walls....who knows, but I am happy to throw it in the trash barrel!!

Let the Mess Begin!!

We tackled the paint layer on top of three layers of wallpaper today in the new nursery. What a sticky and smelly mess...we used a combination of water and white vinegar to get the paper off the wall. Monet was in there helping for a bit. She was into spraying the water on the wall and asking us over and over "Whatcha doin' Mommy/Daddy". But we made good progress and hope to get the rest off tomorrow.

Behind the scenes

Well it has been two years in a row we have subjected Nanna to "Olde Time Photos" with Louisa and Monet. This year was as hectic as the last, but the we were able to get one photo that was decent. And nobody fell off props, we only broke one headband, only had to switch positions three times and Nanna was still smiling with sweat trickling down her back. Will next year be any easier....?

Doesn't she make a great little flapper??

Notice Katie in the doorway biting her lip thinking to herself "That guy had better take the picture in the next 30 seconds or we are losing Louisa for good....take the picture....take the picture....take the puicture..."
